I’ve always been an athlete. When I was a kid, I played everything: soccer, hockey, baseball, track and field – whatever, I just wanted to be out there playing. Sports has led my on some adventures, feeding into my other addiction, travel. From small-town New York State playing college hockey to bike racing in California and most places in-between. Along the way I’ve met some great people and had a lot of fun.
When my hockey career didn’t extend beyond college, I came to California. At the time I figured I’d be out here for a year or two, but that eventually I’d head back east of the Mississippi where I “belonged.” Well, I’ve been here 12 years and counting.
One of the things that kept me in California was the amazing cycling scene. I’d gotten into cycling through a hockey teammate who recommended it instead of running for fitness in the off-season. A few rides in and I was hooked! I may never have been destined for the Tour de France, but cycling has been the best way to satisfy my competitive, adrenaline, and social needs all at once.
My career encompassed a similar variety : Business intelligence & Fortune 1000 consulting (lots of money, but no fun); student travel (no money but TONS of fun); educational products (I helped kids learn how to read!); and communications and web development (scored me a NASA badge at that job!). In each of my professional endeavors I gained significant sales, marketing, and operational skills that I was constantly passing along to friends in various businesses. After spending the last couple years advising friends, building websites, and clueing people in to the web, Twitter, etc., I decided to turn that into a business.
All of my experience, connections, and talents will go into each of my clients’ projects. Just like an athletic coach, I’m excited to see my clients get smarter, better, faster, and stronger in business – I love to see them win!
